In November 2012, The Hannah Geneser Foundation celebrated our one year anniversary. Our focus the first year was to raise awareness and provide educational opportunities about window safety in the home. Here are some of the things we’ve accomplished toward that goal:
In partnership with Blank Children’s, we have distributed more than 20,000 Hannah’s Hope for Window Safety brochures (http://www.hannahgeneserfoundation.org/pdf/Hannah’s_Hope_Brochure2012.pdf) in new parent packets at all of the Des Moines Metro area hospitals; in pediatric clinics, schools, preschools and daycares; to civic organizations and in person at events.
- In May, Team Hannah’s Hope (made up of Board members, friends, family and their children) participated in the My Angel Foundation I-Care Walk to raise money for organ and tissue donor awareness.
- HGF Board members staffed our window safety display at the West Des Moines Community Schools Learnapalooza in April at Valley Southwoods; Jazz in July at Waveland Park; Clowns at the Carousel in Union Park and National Nights Out in Windsor Heights – both held in August. Board members spoke with families about window safety and distributed brochures, bracelets and balloons.
- In September, Hannah’s dad, Jamie, was the keynote speaker at the Iowa Child and Youth Injury Prevention Conference held at Blank Children’s, where he spoke to several hundred childcare providers and emergency response professions about window safety in the home.
We want to thank you all so very much for your continued support and with helping to spread the word on window safety. We couldn’t be doing it without you. One Life…
